Things are well with me now. I'll be completely debt free in a
few months ( a lot of overtime...like you wouldn't believe),
and more money to put into investments.
By the way, the book is excellent! I'm now on my second read
through. I must tell you, the reading appeals to me on two
levels. In part, it reads like a good college textbook, which
appeals to the student in me. But it is also written in a
manner that allows for easy to understand explanations for some
difficult concepts. An impressive job, Scott!

It was worth the wait!
I finished reading the book about a week ago. I am a Computer
Engineer, but have always been very interested in stocks. I have
read a lot about the topic and your book was a refresher on
things I had read about, but forgotten. However, I did receive some
EXCELLENT new information.
The information regarding mutual funds was an eye opener.
Your recommendation on buying index funds and always closely
examining the fees was right on the money. My 401(k) has
performed well (12% to 14% ROI), but I have to reassess my holdings
with this new information that you provided.
The best information I received was regarding the EDGAR database and
the Form 4 SEC filing. This is priceless. Other financial
books I have read never covered this topic. Most advice I have
received involves dollar cost averaging with mutual funds. Keep
saving and when you are 60 you can retire. That just doesn't cut it
for me. In addition, the company I work for suffered from one of
those self serving CEOs. He was fired (although they said it
in nicer words), because during his reign the stock plummeted.
However, his severance package amounted to $180 million. The
corporate structure of my employer states that the CEO is also the
Chairman of the Board. You can imagine the atrocities that
they can get away with!
Anyways, thanks to you I also learned about Van K. Tharp and
position sizing.

Frances
was born and raised in a family of Swedish immigrants in a small
town near Atlantic, Iowa. As a youth she had the striking good looks
of a beauty queen and after her first husband died, she met and fell
in love with Leonard, a gentle wealthy dentist, who personally
attended to William Randolph Hearst's family. She was 75 when she
very happily remarried. Tragically, Leonard died a short time later
and Frances received an inheritance of $85,000 in an account with a
nationwide brokerage. The full service
broker
who managed her account was named Joe. He was known for pushing
overpriced stocks on the elderly. Full service brokers have been
caught doing this to get inside corporate executives out of large
positions in stocks that they know are about to drop.
